How the Event Waitlist Works
When you create an event with a maximum capacity, Flamingo will automatically enable a waitlist once that capacity is reached. Here's how the waitlist works:
1. Residents Join the Waitlist
Once an event is full, residents can still express interest by joining the waitlist through the Flamingo resident app. Waitlist registration is only available via the app.
2. Notifications When a Spot Opens
If a confirmed attendee cancels their RSVP, a spot opens up and the system begins notifying waitlisted residents.
The first person on the waitlist is notified via email and push notification that a spot is available.
If that person does not claim the spot within 24 hours, the next person on the waitlist is notified.
This process continues down the waitlist until the spot is filled.
3. How Notifications Are Triggered
There are two ways a "spot available" notification is sent:
Scheduled Daily Notifications: Flamingo has a daily scheduler that checks for open spots and sends notifications to the next eligible person on the waitlist.
Immediate Notifications on Cancellation: If a resident cancels their RSVP and they had event email notifications enabled, the system will immediately send a spot notification to the next person on the waitlist (without waiting for the daily scheduler).
Notes
If no one from the waitlist claims the spot within 24 hours, the next person will be notified the following day.
Residents must have event notifications enabled to receive these alerts.
